In Logistiqo, transport units are used to record goods, packages, or load carriers in a consistent way and reuse them across different processes.
Typical examples are Piece, Euro pallet, Bag, Barrel, or Big Bag.
Transport units can be used in shipments, the customer portal, the Logistiqo app, pallet exchange processes, warehouse management, manifests, dispatching, and route optimization.
Opening Transport Units
Go to Master Data > Unit.
The upper table shows the existing transport units.
You can select an existing unit or create a new transport unit by clicking New.
Creating a New Transport Unit
Click New and enter the most important information for the transport unit.
At minimum, Code and Name should be maintained.
Examples:
- Code: EURO
Name: Euro pallet - Code: STK
Name: Piece - Code: BIG_BAG
Name: Big Bag
The Code is used to identify the unit clearly. The Name is shown to users in selection fields and tables.
Then click Save.
Important Fields
Depending on the process, additional fields can be important besides Code and Name.
Timocom: Can be used if the unit should be linked to a TIMOCOM unit.
Price: Price of the unit for pallet exchange processes with subcontractors. This is relevant, for example, when load carriers such as Euro pallets should be valued or settled with a stored price.
Weight: Standard weight of the unit. This weight can be relevant in shipments, manifests, dispatching, and route optimization.
Length, Width, Height: Dimensions of the unit. These values can be used for volume, area, or capacity calculations.
Storage Spaces: Defines how many storage spaces the unit occupies. This is especially relevant for warehouse processes, manifest planning, dispatching, and route optimization.
Duration Group: Can be used if a specific duration or dwell time logic should be considered for the unit, for example in dispatching or route optimization.
Capacity: Can be used if a capacity or fill quantity should be maintained for the unit.
Not every field is required for every unit. For simple units such as Piece, basic master data is often enough. For pallets, warehouse processes, manifest planning, dispatching, or route optimization, additional information such as weight, dimensions, storage spaces, or duration group is much more important.
Importance for Manifests, Dispatching, and Route Optimization
If you work with manifests, dispatching, or route optimization in Logistiqo, transport units should be maintained more precisely.
This information helps plan shipments more accurately and consider capacities more realistically.
In this case, the following values are especially important:
- Weight
- Length, Width, Height
- Storage Spaces
- Duration Group
- Capacity
- if required, Calculate Sqm
Example:
A Euro pallet may need to be considered differently in planning than a single piece, parcel, or Big Bag. If weight, storage spaces, or dimensions are missing, dispatching and route optimization may not be able to fully consider the unit.
Important Settings
The checkboxes define in which processes the transport unit can be used.
Calculate Sqm: Activate this option if area calculation is relevant for the unit.
Pallets Exchange: Activate this option if the unit should be used in pallet exchange processes. This is relevant, for example, for Euro pallets.
Use Default Qty: Can be used if a default quantity should be applied automatically for the unit.
In Logistiqo-App: Activate this option if the unit should be selectable in the Logistiqo app.
In Portal: Activate this option if the unit should be selectable in the customer portal.
Accessory: Can be used if the unit should be treated as an accessory or additional unit.
Only activate the settings that match the actual process.
Use in Shipments, Portal, and App
If a transport unit should be used in shipments, the customer portal, or the Logistiqo app, it must be maintained and enabled accordingly.
Example:
A Euro pallet should be selectable in shipments and in the app. In this case, the unit should be created and In Logistiqo-App should be activated. If the unit should also be selectable in the customer portal, In Portal must also be activated.
If a unit does not appear in the app or portal, check these settings first.
Use for Pallet Exchange
For load carriers such as Euro pallets, the Pallets Exchange checkbox is often relevant.
This allows the unit to be used in processes where pallets or other load carriers are exchanged, counted, or documented.
If pallet exchange with subcontractors should be valued or settled, the stored Price of the transport unit is also relevant.
Make sure that only units that are actually used as exchangeable load carriers in your process are activated for pallet exchange.
Common Issues
If a unit cannot be used as expected, check the following points first:
- Was the unit saved?
- Are Code and Name maintained?
- Is the unit enabled for the correct process, for example In Logistiqo-App or In Portal?
- Is Pallets Exchange activated for load carriers?
- Is a suitable Price maintained for pallet exchange with subcontractors?
- Are weight, dimensions, storage spaces, capacity, or duration group maintained if they are needed for dispatching, manifests, or route optimization?
- Is the correct unit selected in the shipment, manifest, or warehouse process?
Summary
Transport units are maintained under Master Data > Unit.
They define which units can be used in shipments, warehouse processes, the app, the portal, pallet exchange, manifests, dispatching, and route optimization.
For simple units, Code, Name, and Save are usually enough. For advanced processes, check the relevant settings such as Pallets Exchange, In Logistiqo-App, In Portal, Price, Weight, Dimensions, Storage Spaces, Capacity, and Duration Group.
